Basketball Exhibition at Whittier Was a Success

On Saturday, May 28th, ABC hosted a basketball exhibition for all our kids from kindergarten through 9th grade and several other basketball programs at Whittier Playground.Over 75 kids played games all day and their parents and community members came to watch. It was a great day!

It marked a special occasion for Coach Alex since that’s where he learned to play basketball when he was a kid in Pilsen. For years the playground was not usable because an old run-down building sat in the middle of the playground. A few years ago CPS tore the building down and put in 2 new basketball courts, a turf field and new playground equipment. The space is used by Whittier school students during the day and is full of community kids and families every day after school.

Our ABC kids and their families had a great time.Thanks to all our kids, their parents, CPS and Whittier School, Alderman Solis, the Pilsen community and all the neighbors who came out to cheer on our kids.
